But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret;
and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Welcome to Our Lady of the Lake!
Our responsibility is to greet and assist parishioners and visitors to Our Lady of the Lake. We want to be welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Ministers of Hospitality are expected to be available before the Mass they attend.
We are the "open arms” of Our Lady of the Lake! These Ministers of Hospitality represent the entire church family and strive to not only create a welcoming spirit to all our current parishioners, but also providing an opportunity to all those interested in becoming apart of our Faith Community.
If you would like to add to your prayer life and you love to knit or crochet, this ministry is for you. The purpose of the prayer shawl itself is a physical reminder that someone prayed for you with every stitch. Click "Join Prayer Shawl Ministry" to begin a new prayer life and receive more information.
The prayer shawls are blessed after the 10:00 am Mass on the First Friday of each month except when the First Friday is a Holy Day. During July and August, there is no blessing due to summer activities and vacations.
The prayer shawls are placed on the railing around the baptismal font at the back of the church before mass and will be blessed after mass. Everyone is invited to the blessing.
Each prayer shawl will have a special prayer tag attached. Dedicated prayer shawls will have the name of the person written on the prayer tag. Dedicated prayer shawls may be presented to the recipient after the blessing if they are available. “Non-dedicated” prayer shawls are available after the blessings or by contacting the parish office.
A brochure explaining the history of prayer shawls and a prayer card will be enclosed in a bag with the shawl. Everyone needs prayer and prayer shawls are not limited to parish members or only to Catholics.
.
To date, the Prayer Shawl Ministry has prayed and given over 2,000 prayer shawls. They are created in love to help in the support and sharing of life: support of discipleship, confirmation, baptism, marriage, being widowed or loss of a loved one, healing, thanksgiving, birthday, the birth of baby, whatever prompted the prayers and the creation of a shawl for that person.
The prayer shawls are never sold. The prayers, time, and the yarn is each member’s donation to the ministry. Donations are appreciated and support Our Lady Cares Social Outreach.
